The name Smarack came to me when I was 8 years old. Fascinated by Egyptian Archaeology and precious stones, I was particularly intrigued by the name of Smaragdus (emerald in latin). It was thus, in 1990 when I embarked on my idea to become a fashion designer that I changed the name to “Smarack”. From there on this name personified my passion for fashion, drawings and creations. After studying fashion design - always with the objective tolaunching my own brand - I gained valuable, practical experience by working with well known international brands such as: Custo Barcelona, Levi’s, Thimister.... In March 2013, I moved into a Designers studio: “Designer Above the Corner Shop” in Brussels, where I’m now creating my own brand designs and have updated the concept of Made-to-Measure for private clients.
